Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can LM-60 be used on vertical surfaces above the deck?

A: It is not advised that LM-60 be applied to a surface that will be exposed to sunlight. With time, the LM-60 may craze or crack from ultraviolet light. LM-60 needs to be protected from sunlight by a cover, such as a metal counter-flashing.

Q: Why is a monolithic coating better than sheet products?

A: Sheet products have seams and overlaps where water can seep in. If a sheet product is punctured, water can run under the damaged membrane and leak out elsewhere. GacoFlex LM-60 elastomeric coating forms a seamless, impermeable coating that is 100% adhered to the substrate. A 100% adhered membrane prevents water from running under or pooling beneath the membrane.

Q: How many coats are necessary?

A: Only one coat is required. The cured membrane can then be covered with pavers, concrete, blacktop or a mortar bed for tile or stone.

Q: Is a primer necessary?

A: In most cases, LM-60 is applied directly to the surface. Metal substrate does require a primer.
