GacoFlex U-69 coating is a 95% volume solids, two component fire retarded liquid applied polyurethane waterproofing membrane.
Intended for use as a two component high build base and finish coat on mechanical room floors, walking and vehicular traffic decks, and roofs which require zero V.O.C.'s and odor free application. GacoFlex U-69 is a tough, good weathering, solvent and wear resistant coating system. Suitable substrates include plywood, properly primed concrete or metal, and sprayed in place polyurethane foam. When used as a base coat, GacoFlex U-69 must be top coated within 7 days in order to achieve good top coat adhesion.
Good. Loss of gloss and moderate color change is normal. Durability is excellent.
Good hydrolytic stability to 180° F (82° C). Good resistance to inorganic bases, acids and hydrocarbon solvents, fair resistance to oxygenated and chlorinated solvents.
Resistance to specific reagents per ASTM D-1308 Method 6.2 is as follows:
ASTM D-412
ASTM D-2240
ASTM D-624 Die C
Adheres well to wood, neoprene, Hypalon coatings, acrylic coatings and Gaco Western primers. Primer is required for masonry, concrete and metal. See primer recommendations below for these and other surfaces. GacoFlex U-69 can be recoated when set to touch or as much as 7 days between coats may be allowed, so long as the surface is clean and dry.
ASTM D-471 Max.
ASTM 108 Class A on non-combustible and Class B on combustible.
Part B contains isocyanate prepolymer, which is toxic if heated in a confined area and inhaled as particulate matter. Wear respiratory protection if material is heated, sprayed, or used in a confined space. Refer to MSDS for more information.

None
ASTM D-56 (Tag Closed Cup)
Storage stability based on unopened containers.
WARNING: U-69 components cannot be cross mixed with other urethane coating components. The polyol and isocyanate components must be premixed until there is a uniform color and consistency. Pre mix polyol (A side) until it displays consistent color. The Iso (B side) requires less mixing, however, when opening a sealed container the color shall be amber and free of any semi-cured film or build-up. If otherwise noted contact Gaco Western prior to use.
Power mixing is essential. Insufficient mixing will result in undercured, defective coating. Equal volumes of polyol and iso components shall be mixed for a minimum of 4 minutes using a minimum 1/2” (1.27 cm) drill with round mud or squirrel cage type mixer. Insufficient mixing will result in tacky uncured defective membrane.
Thinning to extend pot life or for roller or squeegee application is permitted. Thin U-69 up to 5% with VOC compliant solvent only. Thinning 2-5% generally provides adequate viscosity reduction.
CAUTION: The use of other thinners will alter the curing and affect the final properties of the membrane.
30 minutes at 70° F (21° C). At higher temperatures the pot life decreases considerably. If the containers are stored at 80° F (27° C) or above, the pot life will be 10-15 minutes. To increase the pot life store containers below 70° F (21° C) or thin as necessary.
Normally applied by roller, notch trowel or notch squeegee. Material may be modified for spray application using plural component spray equipment.
Applied coating will set in 8 hours at 70° F (21° C) and can be used for light foot traffic after 24 hours cure. For vehicular traffic, an additional 48 hours is necessary.
Can be recoated after 24 hours. Wipe with GacoFlex T-5110 thinner if the recoat interval exceeds 7 days.
See Gaco Western General Instructions GW-3-1 or MSDS for safety and storage notes.
