GacoFlex U-5677 is a single component moisture cured polyurethane.
Intended for use as a sealer to be applied directly to concrete, wood, aluminum and epoxy primer. It is also suitable for use as a tie coat over weathered polymeric application of Gaco coating systems.
30 to 50 cps.
Transparent amber-brown.
Forms a tough, resilient , abrasion-resistant film.
Cures to form a solvent vapor resistant film. Water vapor permeability is approximately 0.03 Perm Inches.
Poor. Do not expose to strong sunlight for more than two weeks.
Good solvent, acid, alkali and salt resistance. Does not have inhibitive properties.
Volatile Organic Compounds are 0 grams per liter / 0 lbs per gallon.
400 sq. ft. per gallon per mil (37.2 m² / L / .02 mm). Coverage on rough or porous surfaces may be as low as 100 sq. ft. per gallon (9.3 m² / L / .02 mm) and on smooth surfaces up to 400 sq. ft. per gallon (37.2 m² / L / .02 mm).
The dry film will support combustion unless applied to a non-flammable substrate. Fire rated systems (ASTM E-108 or UL 790) are not affected when specified amount of coatings are applied over GacoFlex U-5677.
One year in original unopened containers. Material may gel if not kept tightly sealed or if exposed to moisture. Normally, containers should be used up on a job or within one week after originally opened.
Contains perchloroethylene which requires ventilation during application. Contains less than 2% polymeric isocyanate which may be irritating to the skin and is toxic if inhaled as particulate matter. Any material contacting the skin should be neutralized by washing with generous quantities of water. Spray application can lead to inhalation of particulate matter and solvents; consequently, a respirator is required for spray application.
Excellent adhesion to metals, wood, concrete, masonry and most coating and plastic materials.
Clean equipment with GacoFlex T-5130 thinner and cleaner.
Apply a uniform wet coat using a medium nap roller. Do not puddle. GacoFlex U-5677 can be sprayed using conventional equipment but the applicator must take precautions against inhalation of particulate matter. Use of a proper respirator is necessary. Do not heat GacoFlex U-5677 before or during spray application. Additional coats may be applied as soon as the previous coat is firm, and preferably, within eight hours. After 24 hours inter-coat adhesion can be poor.
