Ure-Cap series of coatings are single component, moisture cured, elastomeric urethane coatings
These urethane coatings are designed as general purpose waterproofing coatings. They are used over a variety of surfaces to provide weather durability, wear resistance, waterproofing and fire resistance.
Excellent durability, good color stability and chalk resistance.
Good salt and solvent resistance. Fair resistance to acid and alkali.
ASTM E-108 (UL790) Class A when applied in accordance with published Gaco Western, Inc. specifications
Contains flammable solvents and an isocyanate prepolymer. Threshold limit is 100 parts solvent vapor per 1 million parts air. Use only in ventilated areas or with fresh air supplied face masks if in a confined area. Avoid breathing vapors or spray mist. Contains an isocyanate polymer, which may be irritating to the skin or toxic if inhaled. Any material contacting skin should be neutralized by washing with generous quantities of soap and water.
Excellent adhesion to polyurethane foam, concrete and wood. See primer recommendations for other substrates.
Sq. Ft./Gal./Mil. 1128 Minimum (21 m²/L/mm)
Maximum volatile organic compounds content is 255 grams per liter.
Black 6 months and colors 3 months from date of manufacture when stored in sealed containers below 75ºF (24ºC). U-6801 is produced on a "by order" only, allow time for production when ordering.
Use Gaco Western's T-5116 Regular, T-5130 Spray. Only use thinners supplied by Gaco Western. Thinners from other sources may be contaminated with alcohol which will stop the cure of GacoFlex Ure-Cap U-68 coatings.
None required for wood or urethane foam. Standard sealer system should be used on concrete surfaces other than limited flashing details. Use Gacoflex E-5320 on steel or aluminum, U-5677 on copper and E-2465 on glass and synthetic surfaces.
Mix with a INDCO type folding mixer (use extension for 55 gallon (208 L) drums) before application to assure uniform color and consistency.
Apply by brush or roller as received. Thinning up to one pint per gallon (.5 L/3.8 L) is permissible if viscosity increases. For spray application, use as received. For cold weather application, keep material stored above 65ºF (18ºC). Maximum time between coats is 72 hours. If this time interval is exceeded, prime between coats with GacoFlex U-5677 or E-2465 primers.
Clean spray equipment with T-5130 thinner. Recirculate through lines and gun until residual Ure-Cap U-68 is removed.
Applied coating will cure in 24 hours with 70ºF (21ºC) and 40% relative humidity. Lower temperatures and humidity will require longer times to cure.
