GacoFlex UB-64

GacoFlex UB-64 Series liquid polyurethane is a hydrolytically stable, fire retarded, two component elastomer.

USAGE

Use as a base coat on roofs, mechanical room floors, walking decks and traffic decks where polyurethane coating systems require fire retardance, toughness, fast cure and good solvent resistance. Suitable substrates include plywood, polyurethane foam, properly primed concrete and metal. GacoFlex UB-6421 black is suitable for exterior exposure and may be used as a top coat. GacoFlex UB-6407 gray must be top coated when exposed to the weather. GacoFlex UB-64 must be top coated within 72 hours in order to achieve good top coat adhesion.

COLOR

  • UB-6407
    • Part A: White
    • Part B: Black
    • A and B MIXED: Gray
  • UB-6421

NOTE: GacoFlex UB-6407 colors are not controlled, as they are used only as base coat to be overcoated with color-controlled top coats. Base coat colors will vary somewhat from batch to batch.

APPLIED PRODUCT DATA

WEATHERABILITY

GacoFlex UB-6407 is not designed for long term exposure to weather without top coating. Excellent durability when top coated or when GacoFlex UB-6421 is used.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Good salt, acid, alkali and solvent resistance. Excellent hydrolytic stability up to 160°F (71°C).

TENSILE

  • ASTM D-412
  • Strength: 2100 ± 100 psi (14.48 ± .69 MPa)
  • Elongation: 400 ± 25%
  • Permanent Set at Break: 15% Max.

Change in % after exposure ASTM D3137, Hydrolytic Stability 6 months at 100ºF (38ºC):

  • Strength: -3%
  • Elongation: -8%

HARDNESS

  • ASTM D-2240
  • 90 ± 5 Shore A

TEAR RESISTANCE

  • ASTM D-624 Die C
  • Lb./In. 375 ± 25 (66.9 ± 4.5 kg(f)/cm)

WATER ABSORBTION

  • ASTM D-471
  • 24 hours R.T.
  • 2.0%

WATER VAPOR PERMEABILITY

  • ASTM E-96 Procedure B Max. 100% R.H. Difference at 23ºC
  • 0.02 Perm Inches

FLAMMABILITY

UL Classified as Class A Roof Covering System per UL790/ASTM E-108

TOXICITY

Inhaling high vapor concentration of solvents could have adverse health effects. Part B contains isocyanate prepolymer, which is toxic if heated in a confined area and inhaled as particulate matter. Wear respiratory protection if material is heated, sprayed, or used in a confined space. Refer to MSDS for more information.

ADHESION

Adheres well to wood, neoprene, Hypalon coatings, acrylic coatings and Gaco Western primers. See primer recommendations below for specific surfaces. The Gaco Western primer-sealer system is required to achieve adhesion and minimize blistering when coating concrete. UB-64 may be recoated when dried to touch with a maximum time of 72 hours. Recoating beyond that time will require sanding and a primer.

APPLICATION

PRIMER

  • Polyurethane Foam Insulation: No primer necessary
  • Wood: No primer necessary
  • Concrete: Standard GacoFlex sealer system U-5677 and E-5320 or GacoFlex E-5481
  • Metals: GacoFlex E-5320, E-5388, U-5677

MIXING

WARNING: UB-64 Series components cannot be combined with U-66 Series components.

GacoFlex UB-6407 and UB-6421: Stir Part A and Part B separately to suspend any settled pigment. Combine equal volumes of Part A and Part B. Mix thoroughly with a power mixer. See Gaco Western SG-URETHANE for typical equipment recommendations. T-5116 thinner may be added during mixing to thin coating if necessary. Apply by spray, brush or roller with workable viscosity range (pot life), usually one hour at 70ºF (21°C).

NOTE: When application of GacoFlex UB-64 is to surfaces with a temperature between 33ºF (1°C) and 50°F (10°C), mix Part A and Part B which have been warmed to 60ºF (16°C) minimum, and let mixture stand for 15 minutes before application. This will cause a viscosity increase and thinning may be needed for application. Do not apply GacoFlex UB-64 materials to surfaces below 33ºF (1°C).

POT LIFE

  • UB-6407
    • POT LIFE AT 70ºF (21ºC): 45 Minutes
    • INTENDED APPLICATION METHOD: Spray or Roll
  • UB-6421
    • POT LIFE AT 70ºF (21ºC): 45 Minutes
    • INTENDED APPLICATION METHOD: Spray or Roll

NOTE: Do not apply to surfaces below 33ºF (1ºC).

CURE

UB-6407, UB-6421: Applied coating will set in two hours at 70ºF (21°C) and can be used for light foot traffic after 24 hours cure. For vehicle traffic an additional 24 hours is necessary.

RECOAT

Can be recoated when dry to the touch:

UB-6407, UB-6421: 2 hours at 70ºF (21ºC)

NOTE

See Gaco Western General Instructions GW-3-1 and MSDS for safety and storage notes.
