Case Study - Boeing Corporation

"Gaco Western kept our construction schedule on track by allowing other trades to continue working safely!" - Project Manager

Problem: Penthouse pump room and mechanical rooms require reliable waterproofing with zero VOC's or fumes.

Solution: Gaco Western's U-62 elastomeric waterproofing, with no solvent, no smell, zero VOC's.

Construction at the Boeing Corporation in Seattle, Washington required reliable interior waterproofing for mechanical rooms located at the top of the building. The tight construction schedule required other trades to be working in the vicinity. Boeing wanted a high-quality coating that would meet air quality regulations and have a low environmental impact.

Gaco Western specification MF-20-U62, a 100% solids waterproofing with no solvent or fumes, fit the bill perfectly. Gaco Western U-62 urethane coating is environmentally friendly, safe to use, and poses no dangers from solvent fumes to others in the vicinity. It provides tough, resilient, mechanical room floor protection that is also resistant to chemical spills and corrosion.

First, GacoFlex E-5481, a 100% solids epoxy primer, was spread over the concrete floors to promote adhesion and eliminate porosity. Following the primer coat, GacoFlex U-62 was applied by squeegee over the primed concrete.

The job was completed in August 1998. Mark Taylor, of the Gudmundson Company, worked as the project manager for Boeing Corporation Headquarters construction. He praised Gaco Western's U-62, commenting, "By using Gaco's U-62, we kept our construction schedule on track and allowed the other trades to continue working safely."
