"We like this system because of its easy installation and non-solvent based products." -Steve Klukas, Contractor
The Maytag production area of Holm Industries, Inc. in New Ulm, Minnesota had leaking seams and fasteners on a metal roof. The roof also had experienced some rust damage. The building owners required a system that would rejuvenate the existing metal roof, yet would not interfere with regular production at the facility.
The job was awarded to Northern Insulation Products of Gibbon, Minnesota.
First, the metal roof was power washed to remove dirt and debris. A primer coat of E-5388 was applied to the dry roof.
Following the primer, A-3611 Liquid Seam Tape was applied over fasteners and seams. After the Liquid Tape, the contractor applied an acrylic base coat, GacoFlex A-3211. Finally, GacoFlex A-3200 was applied as the topcoat.
Following the project's completion, the building was subjected to 90 mph winds and severe weather. Adjacent buildings experienced substantial damage, but the roof with A-3611 Liquid Seam Tape had no leaks or damage from the storm.
Contractor Steve Klukas was pleased with the Gaco Western Liquid Tape system. He commented, "We like this system because of its easy application and non-solvent based products."
Mike Sellner of Holm Industries stated, "This [Gaco Western Liquid Tape] system worked well for us because it did not interfere with production."
