"Gaco's LM-60 stopped all the leaks."
The State of Hawaii Office Complex in Honolulu houses the everyday workings of the state government. Located on the grounds are the Kalanimoku Office Building and an adjacent park, landscaped to feature native Hawaiian plants and trees.
A large underground parking garage located beneath the office complex had begun leaking badly due to failed repair work done on the between-slab waterproofing membrane. Mechanical rooms located beneath the office building also suffered from leaks from this same source.
Contractor HaRon Construction selected Gaco Western LM-60 Urethane to stop the leaks, and work began in the fall of 2001. The total area to be recoated equaled 30,000 square feet.
First, the old wear slab and waterproofing membrane were removed from the office building's plaza deck and some of the nearby planted areas. GacoFlex E-5320 Epoxy Primer was used to prepare the exposed surfaces.
Next, GacoFlex LM-60 Urethane was applied at a 120 mil thickness over the cured primer. To complete the job, new concrete wear slab was installed over the new waterproofing membrane.
Larry Bauer of Bonded Materials, Hawaii Gaco Western distributor, observed the installation process. He was pleased with the finished result: "This deck leaked badly and the first material used for repair did not stop the leaks. Gaco's LM-60 membrane stopped all the leaks, for the first time in years."
