"Even in the blistering Texas sun, the ambient temperature of the warehouse was 17 degrees cooler than identical warehouses surrounding it." - Gaylan Beavers, CEO, Tejas Logistics
During early spring of 2000, a severe hailstorm swept through Hillsboro, Texas, damaging the metal roofs of the Tejas Logistics Warehouse. President and CEO of Tejas Logistics Warehouse, Gaylan Beavers, wanted to repair these roofs without replacing the metal roof panels. To accomplish this, Gaco Western’s insulating PolyFoam roof system, with a UV-reflective topcoat was specified. The project was planned in two phases, beginning in July 2000. The coverage area totaled 175,000 sq. ft.
First the roof was pressure washed. The clean and dry metal roof was sprayed with 1-inch of PolyFoam insulating polyurethane foam. The cured foam was then coated with 36 mils of Gaco Western A-3200, UV-reflective durable topcoat.
After the first warehouse was completed, Mr. Beavers was touring the warehouses with a potential customer. As they stepped into the warehouse with the new PolyFoam and reflective coating roof, the customer asked, “Why is this warehouse so much cooler than the others?”
Even in the blistering Texas sun, the ambient temperature of the warehouse was 17 degrees cooler than identical warehouses surrounding it! The customer then asked the owner: “Are you planning to add a foam and reflective coating roof to the other warehouses?” Mr. Beaver’s reply? “I am now!”
Warehouses #1, 2, 3, 4 received new foam and coating roof systems during the summer of 2000.
