Sprayed Polyurethane Foam for Energy-Efficient, Sustainable Roofing

Gaco Western Sprayed Polyurethane Foam and Coatings form a light, seamless, durable roofing system, combining energy-efficiency with outstanding weatherability.

The Gaco RoofFoam system is a self-flashing barrier, so the system eliminates common sources of leaks at flashings and penetrations. With years of experience in formulating and applying SPF systems, you can rely on Gaco Western expertise!

Gaco RoofFoam is strong and resilient, but it is still light enough to be sprayed over existing roofs, eliminating expensive "tear-offs." Gaco RoofFoam will provide excellent resistance to thermal expansion and is suitable for both industrial and commercial applications.

Covered by a Gaco Western elastomeric coating, Gaco RoofFoam creates a sustainable roof that is easily rejuvenated after many years of service by an additional top coat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it more economical to tear off the existing roof or to install the Gaco system over the existing roof?

A: Tear-offs create high labor costs and increase waste-disposal costs.  In addition, tear-offs increase the amount of waste in landfills. Gaco RoofFoam and coating systems cover many defects in existing roofs, making expensive tear-offs unnecessary (as long as the substrate is fully adhered). Roofs with extensive damage, blistering or large holes may still require a tear-off before foam installation.  Consult a Gaco Western technical expert for information on your specific roof.

Q: What is the energy cost savings from an insulated polyurethane foam roof?

A: Energy cost savings from the installation of Gaco RoofFoam and coating systems are climate specific and may vary from building to building.  The greatest savings will occur in buildings located in hot and sunny climates, those that have a high roof surface to building volume ratio, and buildings with low levels of attic insulation.

Q: What does "self-flashing" mean?

A: When Gaco RoofFoam is sprayed on a surface, the foam is liquid.  As the foam cures, it expands to fill the roof contours. The spray-applied foam conforms to the contours of any shape (such as smokestacks, skylights or vents).  Within minutes the foam cures to a rigid, protective insulation, expanding to fill holes, nooks and crevices.
