Recoating of Polyurethane GacoDeck System Instructions
- Thoroughly scrub the deck with GacoFlex D-09 Etching Detergent and a stiff bristle broom or brush. Thoroughly rinse with clean water and allow deck to dry completely.
- Apply by roller one coat of GacoFlex U-66 polyurethane coating in the desired color at the rate of one gallon per 100 square feet (3.78 L / 9.3 m²). Allow to dry a minimum of 48 hours before using.
TO REPAIR DAMAGE SUCH AS CUTS, BURNS, RUPTURED JOINTS, REPAIR AS FOLLOWS:
- Remove loose coating. Sand damaged area, feathering edges. Sand ruptured joints to a minimum of 4” (10.16cm) wide. Remove loose or popped nails and re-nail with hot dipped galvanized or non-rusting ring shank nails. Fill old nail holes with tapered wood plugs driven flush with deck surfaces.
- To repair damage to a plywood or concrete substrate, polyurethane caulking can be used or prepare a leveling grout by combining one part GacoFlex U-66 Polyol and one part GacoFlex U-66 Iso with one part 80 mesh sand. Apply grout to fill voids and allow to dry firm (6 to 24 hours).
- Coat repair areas with one coat of GacoFlex U-66 polyurethane, feathering out an adjacent surface. Allow to dry until coating is firm enough to walk on.
- Repair ruptures or cracks by installing 66B tape and coat with GacoFlex U-66 polyurethane. Allow to dry until coating is firm. (Usually 4 to 12 hours.)
- Apply a light coat of GacoFlex U-66 polyurethane and distribute GacoShell to reestablish texture as necessary in damaged areas.
- After the GacoShell granule coat has dried overnight, remove excess granule and check for continuity of texture.
- Apply one coat of GacoFlex U-66 polyurethane in the desired color over the deck at the rate of one gallon per 100 square feet (3.78 L / 9.3m²). Allow this to dry a minimum of 48 hours before using.
NOTE:Variation in drying times is due to weather differences.
For best appearance, GacoDeck should be washed as needed to remove natural soil accumulation. This is best done using GacoFlex D-09 cleaning solution. Wash and water rinse. For general cleaning and maintenance, mix as required up to 9 parts water to one part D-09. This procedure will maintain natural color during many years of service.
